1999 Mercedes-Benz G-Class

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has enjoyed a long existence, in production since the 1970s. The Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen (Cross-Country Vehicle) began as a military vehicle collaboration between Daimler-Benz and Austria's Steyr-Daimler-Puch. The civilian versions followed in 1979 and have since spawned numerous versions over the years. The 1999 model year G-Class was part of the W461 generation, introduced in 1992.

In 1999, 10 examples of the G500 were imported to the US by 'G-Wagen' specialist firm Europa International of Santa Fe.
