1985 Volkswagen Type 2 Vanagon

Volkswagen produced the Type 2 (T3) from the late 1970s through 1991. It was the third generation of the Volkswagen Transporter and known by many names worldwide, including the Microbus in South American, Vanagon in North and South America, the Transporter or Caravelle in Europe. In the United States, the 1985 VW Vanagon came with a water-cooled, 1.9-liter four-cylinder engine offering 83 horsepower and equipped with a Digital Jet-Tronic (Digijet) fuel injection system. It used an independent suspension, power-assisted disc brakes in the front, and a rack-and-pinion steering system.

Standard equipment included a four-speaker sound system, three-speed windshield wipers, an electric windshield washer system, a rear window defogger, and reclining front bucket seats with vinyl upholstery.

The Volkswagen Vanagon VL trim level added folding armrests for each seat, rear window wiper and washer, premium sound system, tinted glass, and velour upholstery.

The Vanagon Camper came with a stove, kitchen cabinet and sink, refrigerator, a swivel table, and a pop-up roof.

Optional equipment included an air conditioning system.
