VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN VISITS NAIAS
January 11, 2017 by NAIASJanuary 10, 2017 - Vice President Joe Biden toured the NAIAS today and experienced the full spectrum of the industry — from autonomous vehicles to current production to iconic supercars. The Vice President toured the show with 2017 NAIAS Chairman Sam Slaughter, U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell and UAW officials Gerald Kariem and Mike Stone, making stops at displays along the way where he was greeted by FCA Vice President Brian Harlow, Ford President and CEO Mark Fields and GM Executive Vice President Mark Reuss. 'NAIAS is honored to have a car enthusiast like the Vice President visit the show and experience firsthand the products that are reshaping the automotive industry,' said Slaughter. 'NAIAS has long been considered a catalyst for news that impacts the development of policy and is relevant to the global economy, so it's a natural fit that the show attracts some of the world's top officials.' This was his second visit to NAIAS as Vice President. NAIAS has been a draw for a long list of distinguished government officials, including U.S. Presidents, White House Cabinet members, U.S. Congressional leaders, United Nations delegates and other top officials from nations around the world.
