Mecum Dallas Collector-Car Auction Reaches More Than $22.2 MillionPrivate Collections Take Center Stage and Bring Strong Sales

WALWORTH, Wis. – Sept. 13, 2017 – Bidders honed in on the 10 impressive private collections that took to the auction block at the recent Mecum Dallas 2017 classic- and collector-car auction held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. The collection buzz made for intense bidding, which contributed heavily to the auction's strong overall sales totals of more than $22.2 million. In four days of auction, 610 of the 865 vehicles offered were hammered sold for an excellent 70-percent sell-through rate.

The main-attraction Bruce Church and Kingston collections certainly lived up to their statuses with impressive sales across the board. Four of the Church cars landed among the top 10 sales, and in all, the collection brought more than $2.4 million in hammer sales with 97 percent of the vehicles in the 33-car collection finding new owners. The Kingston Collection of 19 cars at no reserve also did exceedingly well with the 1970 Plymouth Superbird (Lot F203) coming in as the fourth-highest seller at $215,000. The auction's top seller was a 2006 Ford GT (Lot S98.1) that brought $270,000.
