Ferrari Racing Days gets underway in Sydney tomorrow

Sydney, 10 April –The first ever Ferrari Racing Days to be staged in Australia gets underway tomorrow at the Eastern Creek circuit on the outskirts of Sydney. The event is a pretty much an Olympic games of Ferrari Corse Clienti programmes and promises action packed entertainment with the exclusivity that is the hallmark of the world of Ferrari.

The main attraction is round 2 of the Ferrari Challenge Asia-Pacific and in addition there will be demonstrations of the cars in the XX Programmes, as well as old privately owned Formula 1 cars. There is plenty more to see with over 300 privately owned Ferraris on site as well as the jewel in the crown, a LaFerrari, on show for the first time in the Antipodes.

The second round of the Asia-Pacific Ferrari Challenge marks the debut of the series on Australian soil. It's the fourth year the championship has been run, this year using the 458 Evo and in the Trofeo Pirelli category, Steve Wyatt is the leader, while David Tjiptobiantoro heads the Coppa Shell. But it's very close and anything could happen in the always exciting Challenge races.

Eagerly anticipated is the Formula 1 action, when Scuderia Ferrari test driver Marc Gene will put on a thrilling show for the crowd featuring burnouts, doughnuts, pit stops and high speed laps. Marc will be at the wheel of an F10 and although he didn't want to speculate, is probably keen on having a crack at the track record, currently held by a Red Bull RB7 when driven by local hero Daniel Ricciardo. Apart from Gene, six other Formula 1 owners will b e on track, two F2007 – one which won the title with Kimi Raikkonen, the other driven by Felipe Massa – two 412 T1, the car Gerhard Berger used to win the 1994 German Grand Prix and two F156/85, as driven by Michele Alboreto and Stefan Johansson. Also taking part, another important car in Ferrari's history, the 333 SP. It's the 'barchetta' that Ferrari provided for customers in 1994 and which enjoyed great success to the end of the Nineties. Between 1995 and 2001 this car took 69 poles, 64 wins (56 outright and 8 in class) including winning the Sebring 12 Hours, a Daytona 24 Hours and an LMP-1 class win in the Le Mans 24 Hours. As for the XX programme cars, there will be a total of six made up of FXX and 599XX, true jewels which are bound to get the crowds in the grandstands excited with the wonderful noise of the Maranello engines. Apart from the on-track activity, there's plenty for the fans and families to enjoy, including a unique collection of never before seen Ferraris. The waiting is over and Eastern Creek is ready to welcome the thousands of fans who want to get a feel for the excitement of the exclusive world of Ferrari.
