CHEVROLET'S S-10 PICKUP: VERSATILE NEW CREW CAB FOR 2001
With the addition of the all-new four-door 4WD Crew Cab to its lineup, S-10 Pickup provides a whole new dimension of versatility, durability and spaciousness for 2001. Several powertrain and trim refinements also add to its appeal.'Chevrolet S-10 Pickup has always been a force in the pickup truck market,' said S-10 Pickup assistant brand manager Dora Nowicki. 'With its Regular, Extended and now Crew Cab models, S-10 Pickup is destined to appeal to a wider range of buyers who want room, convenience and capability in a compact package.'
The 4-door Crew Cab provides sedan-like amenities wîth the versatility of a pickup. Like a sport- utility, the Crew Cab provides true 5-passenger comfort. But unlike a sport utility, the Crew Cab provides a place to store and carry dirty cargo without messing up the interior. In addition to the new four-door 4WD Crew Cab, S-10 Pickup's spacious Extended Cab comes wîth an available third door for easy access to its roomy rear storage and seating area.
S-10 Pickup‘s rugged good looks are enhanced in 2001 wîth two new exterior colors: Medium Sage Green Metallic and Forest Green Metallic (interim) and a freshened set of 16 x 8-inch aluminum wheels for models equipped wîth the ZQB Sport Suspension package (except Xtreme). Also new for 2001 are a set of Generation III front windshield wiper arms and blades for improved performance. For those who want to stand out in the crowd, the optional Xtreme Sport Appearance Package now includes a new factory-installed decal and stripe kit from GM Accessories.Únder the hood, S-10 Pickup flexes its muscles wîth its optional Vortec 4300 SFI V6 (standard on 4x4 models) which generates an impressive 190 horsepower and 250 lb.-ft. torque. A Vortec 2200 L4 engine wîth sequential fuel injection remains standard on 2WD models.
Powertrain enhancements start wîth a new powertrain control module. This module along wîth a new enhanced knock detection and spark correction system help improve performance and efficiency of the Vortec 4300 V6 for 2001. Because Chevrolet is committed to protecting the environment, S-10 Pickup offers Onboard Refueling Vapor Recovery (ORVR) compliance as well as a National Low Emissions Vehicle (NLEV) system.
The Chevrolet S-10 Pickup's reputation as a versatile on- and off-road performer continues wîth standard four-wheel anti-lock brakes and a choice of four suspension packages for 2001. S-10 Pickup buyers can choose from the standard independent front suspension - or step up to the available four-wheel-drive, ZR2 Wide Stance Sport Performance Package.The ZR2 Package gives the S-10 Pickup a distinctive, bold look, featuring big 31x10.5R15' on/off road tires and a reinforced wide-stance chassis. Bilstein gas-charged monotube shock absobers wîth a long list of off-road suspension and driveline hardware will delight even the most hardcore off-road adventurers.
For an S-10 Pickup that screams personality, the optional Xtreme Sport Appearance Package offers the aforementioned new factory-installed decal and stripe kit from GM Accessories, a monochromatic paint scheme, 270-degree ground effects, body color front grille and bumpers, wheel flares, 16-inch cast aluminum wheels and the ZQ8 Sport Suspension package.
