1952 Cadillac Series 62

The Cadillac Motor Car Division celebrated its 50th year in 1952 by introducing new models described as the 'Golden Anniversary Cadillacs.' Styling was similar to the previous year, with the Style 6267 Series 62 Convertible remaining the top-of-the-line body style. The entire line was graced with refined styling and industry-best performance fueled by postwar prosperity. Power was supplied by a 331 cubic-inch, overhead valve V8 engine backed by a Hydra-Matic transmission. The front suspension was independent with coil springs while the rear used a live axle with semi-elliptic springs. Braking was handled by four-wheel hydraulic drums.

The Series 62 was Cadillac's entry-level model, a position held by the Series 61 the previous year, and rested on the shorter wheelbase in the lineup, measuring 126 inches. Body styles included a sedan, club coupe, Coupe Deville, and convertible coupe. The factory prices ranged from $3,540 for the club coupe and rose to over $4,100 for the convertible. The sedan was the most popular with 42,625 sales. The Coupe Deville had 11,165 sales and the club coupe had 10,065. The convertible coupe proved to be the most exclusive with an even 6,400 sales.

Along with the slightly shorter platform, the Series 62 models had a higher rear deck lid contour to accommodate additional luggage space. Coupe DeVille body styles had a ***** nameplate on the rear roof pillar. All Series 62s had a new Cadillac trademark, a through-the-bumper dual exhaust system. In the front was a redesigned grille with wraparound panels, positioned below the headlights and above the bumper. Convertible and Coupe DeVilles came with hydraulic window lifts. New standard features included improved direction signal indicators, glare-proof mirrors, self-winding clocks, four-barrel carburetion, and stannate-treated pistons.
