1911 Buick Model 32 news, pictures, and information

Roadster

Buick produced 13,389 vehicle in 1911 and roughly 1,150 of those were the Model 32 Roadster. Powering the Model 32 was a four-cylinder engine displacing 165 cubic-inches and offering 25 horsepower. The Model 32 sold new for the $800, making it one of Buick's most inexpensive vehicles. Only the Model 14 Roadster, powered by a two-cylinder engine was Buick's least expensive model, selling for $550.

The Buick Motor Car Company was started in 1903 by David Buick, a Detroit plumber who had developed a method of affixing porcelain to cast iron, and thus, gave the world the white porcelain bath tub. The Buick Motor Car Company became the base that William 'Billy' Durant used to start General Motors in 1908.

The Buick race team, which included 'Wild' Bob Burman and Louis Chevrolet, competed in virtually every form of racing and won more than 500 trophies from 1908 to 1912. In 1909, a Buick even raced an airplane and won. Two Buicks ran in the very first Indianapolis 500 held in 1911, but neither car finished the race.
