History
The first Hupmobile was created on November 1st, 1908, built by Robert Craig Hupp. Hupp had worked for Regal, Olds, and Ford but had decided to design and build his own interpretation of the automobile. His first creation was a two-passenger runabout that sold for around $750. A four-cylinder engine provided just under 20 horsepower and a sliding gear transmission sent the power to the rear wheels.
The Hupp Motor Car Corporation launched its Series R in October of 1917 and continued this model designation through 1925. It was the only Model offered by Hupmobile from 1918 through 1924. Power was provided by a four-cylinder inline engine. It displaced 182.5 cubic inches and was rated at 16.5 horsepower and coupled to a three-speed transmission. Five body styles were available including two 'Special' upgrades.
