April 29, 2015 by Aston Martin The Americas

ASTON MARTIN TAKES DOUBLE VICTORY AT BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARKAston Martin Racing's Vantage GT4 and North American partner team TRG-AMR took two race wins in the Pirelli World Challenge this weekend (24/25 April), enabling Kris Wilson (US) take the GTS Drivers' Championship lead.

The experienced GT racing team returned to the fourth round of the championship with its #07 Vantage GT4 and driver Wilson, and left with its second and third Pirelli World Challenge race wins of 2015 under its belt.

Team Principal Kevin Buckler commented: 'What an incredible weekend with back-to-back wins on Friday and Saturday! Kris, the team and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4 ran flawlessly all weekend.'

After qualifying in fourth place for the first 50-minute race, Wilson set about working his way up thorough the pack to victoriously cross the line. In race two, he started from second place and, after the retirement of the lead Porsche, he stormed to his second win of the weekend.

'Wow, what a great win for TRG and Aston Martin Racing today,' commented Wilson. 'It was pretty incredible in race two - there was no traffic ahead of me or in my mirrors - it was like a fun drive across the countryside, just hitting my marks, keeping the Pirelli P-Zero tires under me, and driving an Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4. What could be a better way to spend a Saturday?!'

Wilson now leads the GTS Drivers' Championship with 517 points. The 47-year old from Colorado took the checkered flags in place of long-time team-mate and co-driver Max Riddle, who was out of the driver's seat this weekend while recovering from illness. Riddle is scheduled to be back at the next event in Canada with his #07 Purple/ORION/LaSalle Solutions/PassTime USAVantage GT4.

TRG-AMR next races in the IMSA Tudor United Sports Car Championship at its home track, Laguna Seca on 1-3 May before heading to the next round of the Pirelli World Challenge at The Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on 15-17 May.
