November 11, 2015 by Audi◾Veterans To Technicians will receive Corporate Statesmanship Award ◾U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress will recognize program ◾Audi has placed 225 military veterans at Audi dealers across the country November 11, 2015 | HERNDON, Virginia -- The Veterans To Technicians program of Audi of America will be honored in Spring 2016 with the Corporate Statesmanship Award, given by the U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress. The Audi program recruits and trains U.S. military veterans for positions as service and parts staffers in the company's dealerships across the United States. Since 2013, Audi Veterans to Technicians has placed 225 veterans in jobs at Audi dealerships. Audi representatives are set to receive recognition as the group's Corporate Award Honoree at the association's 19th Annual Statesmanship Awards Dinner next spring in Washington, D.C. The Navy SEAL Foundation will receive the group's Civic Statesmanship Award, and former Senator Max Cleland (D-GA, 1997-2003) will be the recipient of the Statesmanship Award. Following a commitment made by Audi of America three years ago, the Veterans To Technicians program has recruited and placed more than 225 U.S. military veterans at Audi dealerships as service technicians, service consultants, shop foremen and parts specialists in just a little more than two years. These new employees typically possess skills, discipline, and work ethic learned in our nation's service that translate to exemplary performance in their jobs, and Audi dealers continue to seek more job candidates under the program. Bernard Hyland, project manager for CALIBRE, which administers the Veterans To Technicians program for Audi of America said, 'Audi dealers recognize that major corporations must lead the way in setting a good example by presenting opportunities to the patriots who protect us every day. This award is quite an honor, and it validates that the Audi commitment to connecting veterans with exciting career opportunities is having a very positive impact across America.' The annual Statesmanship Awards Dinner has become an institution in Washington D.C. and brings together more than 400 VIP guests, including current and former members of Congress, ambassadors, corporate representatives, and administration officials. The evening serves as a 'Salute to Service,' recognizing outstanding individuals and organizations who exemplify courage, commitment, and passion for furthering democracy, and who have demonstrated a life-long dedication to such service.
