MECUM AUCTIONS RETURNS TO HOUSTON APRIL 14-16 AT THE NRG CENTEREstimated 1,000 Collector Cars to Attract Buyers From Across the Nation

WALWORTH, Wis. – March 22, 2016
– Mecum Auctions, the world's largest collector car auction company, will return to Houston for its fifth consecutive year April 14-16 with prospective buyers from across the nation to converge at the NRG Center for the auctioning of an estimated 1,000 American muscle cars, Corvettes, classics, Hot Rods, Resto Mods and more set to cross the auction block.

Among the auction's main attractions is a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Tanker (Lot S116) that earned the industry's most-stringent judging accolades including Bloomington Gold certification, NCRS Top Flight and Chevy VetteFest Gold Spinner awards. The Sebring Silver example is one of 199 Z06 split-window coupes produced in 1963 and is factory-equipped with the RPO N03 36-gallon fuel tank, of which only 63 were built.

Other featured consignments include a pair of Shelby GT500s and a Ford Mustang Boss 429. The 1967 Shelby GT500 fastback (Lot S91), which is one of 2,048 produced that year, has a 428/355 HP police interceptor V8 engine, a believed-actual 37,332 miles, and its dashboard is autographed by Carroll Shelby. The 1968 Shelby GT500KR convertible (Lot S100.1) has a 428 CI 4V Cobra Jet V8 engine and Toploader four-speed transmission with a Hurst shifter.

The 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 fastback (Lot S93) is one of just 52 Boss 429s produced in Grabber Green and features an 820-A Boss 429 engine. Grabber Green was the second-rarest color produced in 1970, the only year for Grabber-themed paint.

'We look forward to returning to Houston and the state of Texas where they have great passion for collector cars,' says Dana Mecum, the founder and president of Mecum Auctions. He adds, 'We're currently anticipating consignments from nearly 30 states with buyers from even more.'

The auction is open to buyers, sellers and spectators with general admission tickets available at the gate for $30 per person per day or $60 for a three-day pass; children 12 and younger receive complimentary admission. Bidder registration is $100 in advance and $200 at the auction and includes admission for two for all three of the auction days. Doors open daily at 8 a.m. with the vehicle auction beginning on Thursday, April 14 at noon and on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16 at 10 a.m. NBC Sports Network will broadcast portions of live auction coverage all three days of the event; a live stream of the entire auction will be presented at Mecum.com.
