Williams Martini Racing's presence at Autosport International 2016 was a hugely successful attraction resulting in record visitor numbers to the NEC event. Now the show is proud to announce that the much-loved British Formula One team will return, with a bigger and even better feature, in 2017, celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Anyone who walked into the main hall at Autosport International in January will remember the incredible sight of Williams Martini Racing's incredible motorhome, erected for the first time ever outside of an F1 paddock, next to the Autosport Stage. Standing eight metres tall, it was a permanent feature for the duration of the 2016 show, bringing extra F1 glamour to the NEC.

With 2017 marking four decades of Williams– which was originally established by Sir Frank Williams and Patrick Head in 1977 – visitors can expect an even more head-turning feature.

Full details will be announced in the coming weeks, but for now we can reveal that, thanks to a new interactive feature, fans will be able to immerse themselves in 40 years of Williams heritage – from the team of 1977 right up to Williams Martini Racing of 2017 – as part of a centerpiece that will also see a complete overhaul of the Autosport Stage.

As it did earlier this year, all aspects of the Grove-based racing team will be celebrated at Autosport International 2017, from star cars to drivers and key team members.

The event will also give visitors an insight into the world of Williams Advanced Engineering, the division that transfers technology from Formula One to market sectors as diverse as defence and renewable energy.

Williams Advanced Engineering has completed many high profile projects recently, including supplying all batteries to the inaugural FIA Formula E Championship. In addition, visitors will be able to learn about Williams Heritage, the team's historic racing division, which restores and fully supports Williams racing cars for private owners.

Claire Williams, Williams Martini Racing Deputy Team Principal, said: 'Our presence at Autosport International in January allowed us to engage with thousands of fans in a unique environment. It was a fantastic way to kick off the motorsport season.

'We are delighted that we will be returning to the world's biggest motor racing show again in 2017 – a year that marks our 40th anniversary. We'll be kicking off 12 months of celebrations at Autosport International and while I'm not going to reveal too much, fans can rest assured that our new centrepiece attraction will be bigger and better than ever, giving them an innovative way of celebrating our past, present and future. Not to mention the chance to learn about other elements of the Williams organisation that they may not be familiar with.'

Anthony Rowlinson, Group Editor Autosport, F1 Racing and Motorsport News said: 'Having the Williams Martini Racing motorhome at Autosport International earlier this year, not to mention so many Williams racing cars as well as past and present F1 stars, was a real highlight and translated into record attendance at the NEC.

'It's fantastic to have one of Britain's most-loved front-running teams back next year at the show– and the fact that they will be marking their 40th anniversary is the icing on the cake. I've been privileged enough to see some of their plans– and one thing is for sure, if you're a motorsports fan, you won't want to miss this. Book your tickets now!'

More details of the Williams special feature at Autosport International will be announced in the coming weeks. The 2017 Autosport International show takes place from 12-15 January at the Birmingham NEC.
