SILVERSTONE AUCTIONS TO HOST EIGHT SALES IN 2017

◾Specialist auction house Silverstone Auctions confirms dates for its 2017 sales calendar.

◾Eight sales will be held at some of the most high profile classic car events in Europe.

◾Silverstone Auctions achieved a total of ten new world records in 2016 as well as 445 cars sold with a total sales figure of £26million.

Following an incredible year of record breaking results, specialist auction house Silverstone Auctions will host a total of eight sales in 2017.

The auction house's first sales of 2017 take place at Race Retro, one of Europe's premier historic motorsport shows, with both a competition car sale and a two-day classic road car sale to be held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, on 24th to 26th February.

This year's Race Retro Sale saw Silverstone Auctions secure a brand new world record price for an incredibly special 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II, with just 1,723 miles recorded. The car was sold for an amazing £292,500, more than double its lower estimate, with bidders across the world competing to take home the stunning example.

Entries are already being invited into this sale, so those looking to sell a historic racing car, classic road car or modern sports car are encouraged to speak with the team soon.

Silverstone Auctions returns to its spiritual home at Silverstone circuit to host its May Sale on Saturday 13th May, before another hosting its flagship auction with three days of sales in July as part of the world famous Silverstone Classic. Once again the auction house will host a dedicated competition car sale on 27th July, before another two-day classic road car sale on the 29th and 30th July.

Ending the summer season on a high, Silverstone Auctions will host its fourth Salon Privé Sale, an exclusive auction that will feature a very special catalogue of exquisite, best of breed cars, offered in the grounds of historic Blenheim Palace on Saturday 2nd September. Only the very best cars will be on offer in this sale, so demand to enter cars is expected to be high. For the penultimate auction in its calendar, Silverstone Auctions will be hosting its third Porsche Sale in collaboration with Porsche Club GB at Silverstone Circuit on 21st October.

Silverstone Auctions will conclude 2017 with a two-day spectacular at the UK's biggest classic car event, the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, held at the NEC, Birmingham, on the 11th and 12th of November. One of its biggest and most high profile auctions, several record prices have been broken at past sales.

Speaking ahead of next year's sales, Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: 'I'm delighted that we are once again hosting auctions at these fantastic, high profile classic car events. Silverstone Auctions achieved a total of ten new world records in 2016 as well as 445 cars sold with a total sales figure £26million.

Highlights of the year include a world record price of £121,500 for a 1958 Lotus Elite, restored and featured as part of Channel 4's 'For the Love of Cars', and sold for £495,000, a 1981 Porsche 924 Carrera GTR, one of the most original Porsches Silverstone Auctions has ever seen.
