Newport Car Museum Donates MINI Electric Cars to Hasbro Children's Hospital
September 18, 2018 by Newport Car MuseumPORTSMOUTH, R.I. (September 17, 2018) – The Newport Car Museum recently delivered the first of two mini electric cars to Hasbro Children's Hospital as part of its 'Fast Five' Raffle event. The hospital's Pediatric Rehab team and a young patient named Grayson were on hand to receive it. The cars bring light into the lives of children when they are able to 'drive' to their treatments or operations for cancer and other illnesses. The museum has committed to purchasing a second car for the hospital with remaining proceeds from ticket sales. 'Fast Five' raffle tickets are $20 and will be sold at the museum (by calling 401-848-2277 or stopping by) through September 26, when winners of the top three prizes will be announced at the museum's 7 p.m. showing of 'Fast Five', the fifth installment in 'The Fast and the Furious' movie series. The same car used in 'Fast Five's' famous train heist scene is a recent addition to the museum's collection of 70+ cars and can be enjoyed, along with the movie clip of the heist scene, in the Ford/Shelby gallery. Top prize for the raffle is a ride to lunch in the car with the museum founders; second prize is the chance to 'pop a wheelie' in the museum's 2019 Dodge Demon; and third prize is a detail job by the Newport Car Museum's expert detail team. Tickets: $18 / adults; $15 / Seniors, Military, Students; $8 / Ages 5-15 (with an adult); free for children 4 and under (with an adult). Handicap accessible, the Newport Car Museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week. Address: 1947 West Main Rd. (Enter at Light), Portsmouth, R.I. 02871, 401-848-2277. www.newportcarmuseum.org
