HERNDON, Va., March 26, 2019 – The new 2019 Audi A6 and Q8 were named 2019 Top Safety Picks by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The all-new 2019 Audi A6 was named a 2019 Top Safety Pick+, earning a 'good' rating for its LED Matrix and HD Matrix Design headlights available on Premium Plus and Prestige trim lines. Top Safety Pick+ is the highest award available from IIHS. The 2019 Audi Q8 was named a 2019 Top Safety Pick when equipped with an available HD Matrix Design LED lighting package.

'We're honored to have two new models – the 2019 A6 and Audi Q8 – recognized by IIHS with these prestigious awards,' said Mark Del Rosso, president, Audi of America. 'The breadth of models included speaks to the brand's commitment to safety and delivering cutting edge technical innovations to our customers, which we know are top new vehicle purchase considerations.'

Both the 2019 A6 and Q8 earned 'good' ratings in all six IIHS crashworthiness evaluations and 'superior' ratings for the Front Crash Prevention tests, with the Audi Q8 named a 'Top Safety Pick' and the A6 earning the highest designation of Top Safety Pick+. Requirements for Top Safety Pick+ require a 'good' passenger-side small overlap frontal rating and a 'good' headlight rating.

In December 2018, the 2019 Audi A3 and A4 were also named 2019 IIHS Top Safety Picks, when equipped with available LED lighting packages. Standard and optional driver assistance features for these vehicles include Audi pre sense® basic, which can help prepare the vehicle for impact by partially closing the side windows and sunroof and pre-tensioning the front safety belts. Standard on the 2019 A6 and Q8 is Audi pre sense® front which can help initiate braking at speeds of up to 52 mph for detected pedestrians and bicyclists and at speeds of up to 155 mph for detected vehicles.
