• Atlas is one of 14 vehicles on the Car Seat Check Honor Roll
•For the second year, Atlas earns top marks in all categories
Herndon, VA — Volkswagen of America, Inc. today announced that the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas has been named to the Cars.com 2020 Car Seat Check Honor Roll. This is the second year in a row that Atlas has earned a spot on the list.
'Volkswagen has grown our SUV family to fit the needs of America's families,' says Hein Schafer, Senior Vice President of Product Marketing and Strategy. 'Being recognized for the family-friendly features of Atlas is a sign that we're getting it right.'
Cars.com releases its annual Car Seat Check Honor Roll to recognize which family vehicles best fit car seats and have easy-to-use LATCH systems for car seat installation. Certified child passenger safety technicians evaluate vehicle LATCH systems by installing a rear-facing infant seat, rear- and forward-facing convertible, and a high-back booster seat into each car. To qualify for the 2020 Car Seat Check Honor Roll, vehicles must receive straight-A grades across all categories. The 2020 Atlas scored straight A's across the board for both the seven-passenger model and six-passenger Atlas with second-row Captain's Chairs.
'Families looking for a roomy SUV that easily handles car seats will find plenty to like with the Volkswagen Atlas,' says Jenni Newman, Cars.com editor-in-chief and certified child passenger safety technician. 'It's loaded with family-friendly features, has a roomy third row and when equipped with the second-row bench seat, it easily fits three car seats.'
Earlier this year, Cars.com named Atlas the Family Car of the Year for its host of driver-assistance features, spacious seating, and Volkswagen's fun-to-drive character. Previously, the 2019 model was named to the Car Seat Check Honor Roll, and the 2018 Atlas took both top honors in the 2017 Three-Row SUV Challenge and was named Best of 2018.
Starting at $31,545 MSRP for the 2.0 liter S model, the 2020 Atlas is available in seven trim levels—S, SE, SE w/ Technology, SE w/ Technology R-Line, SEL, SEL R-Line, and SEL Premium. Atlas is offered with a choice of two powertrains—a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder front-wheel drive, or an available 3.6-liter VR6® engine, which can be paired with front-wheel drive or 4Motion® all-wheel drive.

Standout car seat features for the 2020 Atlas include accessible LATCH restraints for installation and a spacious second row bench that can comfortably fit three car seats.
