The 1951 Delahaye Model 235 Cabriolet from the Mullin Automotive Museum collection was the recipient of the Chairman's Award at the conclusion of the annual Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week on October 4, 2021.

The Audrain Newport Concours welcomed 180 cars from 20 classes of vehicles that ranged from 1899 to 1970 and nearly 3,000 people throughout its four-day gathering of automotive opulence and history. Held at the Breakers Mansion in Newport, RI, this marks the second time the concours has taken place after its debut in 2019 and cites automotive enthusiast and former Tonight Show host, Jay Leno, as its chairman.

'It's a great honor to receive the Chairman's Award considering all of the amazing vehicles that were present,' said Merle Mullin, director of the Mullin Automotive Museum. 'My husband Peter bought this car nearly 15 years ago and we're elated that its eye-catching appeal and unique detailing still stands out.'

In addition to receiving the Chairman's Award, Mullin's 1951 Delahaye 235 finished third in the 'Luxury Meets Sport' class behind a 1937 Delahaye 135M Competition and a 1953 Abarth Ghia 1100 SS Coupe, the first and second place winners respectively.

The 1951 Delahaye 235 is an exclusive sports car that combines prewar hand craftsmanship with postwar technological innovation. With an enveloped body and fenders, large steering wheel, chrome rim and central crown insignia, it is the last luxury car that Delahaye has ever created.
