PITTSBURGH, PA. For the 41st running of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Motorsports Festival a Youth Judging Program has been added to the Schenley Park weekend events in collaboration with Hosanna House of Wilkinsburg, PA.

Each year the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix selects a Marque or model of automobile to honor. Ferrari is the 2023 Marque of the Year and will be the subject of the inaugural Youth

Judging program.

On Saturday, July 22, 2023, Youth Judges from the Hosanna House will review the Ferrari 'Marque of the Year' showfield at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix and select a Best of

Show winner.

'We've been looking for an organization to collaborate with for more than a decade to develop a youth judging program and generate interest in automotive design, engineering, restoration and repair. Right now there is tremendous demand for skills in these industry segments and introducing teenagers to it through this program can help them develop new career interests.' said Bernard Martin, Director of Communications for the Grand Prix.

In advance of the judging at the event, teens will have the opportunity to participate in informative sessions on basic car judging skills with the help of automotive collector Dan Heit,

who is also the Founder and President of JusticeWorks Family of Services. It will include a video meeting with Ralph Gilles, Head of Design at Stellantis. Stellantis, the fourth largest

automaker win the world, is a multinational corporation formed in 2021 on the basis of a 50–50 cross-border merger between the Italian–American conglomerate Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and the French PSA Group

The inaugural Youth Judging program is designed primarily for teens ages 12 to 18 and brings the world of classic automotive design and engineering to a young adult friendly level. The

young judges are guided through the show field, as a group, to pre-selected Marque of the Year show cars and talk with owners to learn about the details, history and fun facts about

each vehicle. A simplified score card, ranking on a scale of 1-to-5 on five basic categories, is used. Approximately 30 teens will participate in the program.

Using forms and an evaluation process outlined with the help of the Malcolm Pray Achievement Center and refined by long time automotive enthusiast Earnest Anderson, the

young judges will be escorted onto the show field by Alberto Sanchez, Vice President of KeyBank Dealer Finance, who is sponsoring the judging program.

'As the Marque of the Year that the PVGP honors changes each year it's going to give the youth judges the opportunity to learn about a different significant automaker each year. Each

year they can make new connections that can help their careers. It also great for the hobby because it brings the next generation of racers, designers, engineers, mechanics and

collectors that will get their start here at the PVGP just like last year's Grand Marshall Ray Shaffer got his start here'
said Alberto Sanchez

'Real partnership like this guarantees that children who typically wouldn't have access to these opportunities now have a pathway to future opportunity in this continued emerging field.' Say Leon Haynes, Founding Chief Executive Officer, Hosanna House

In addition to interacting with car owners, the youth will be judging on the same Ferrari field as this year's Grand Marshal of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix and Concours d'Elegance

Judge Luigi Chinetti Jr. Chinetti drove in three 24 Hours of LeMans races for North American Racing Team (NART) which was founded by his father who was not only a famous Formula 1

driver but also the person who set up Ferrari distribution in North America. Providing insight and history for the youth judging team will be Tom Frasca, For almost 24 years, starting in 1971, Tom Frasca was Dipendenti Ferrari for the North American Racing Team. Frasca served as Chinetti's right hand man until 1994 and was a witness to much of the history that has made Ferrari an iconic name today.

The Youth Judges will present their Best of Show award on the Main Stage on Saturday afternoon at the Grand Prix which will be broadcast over-the-air in the local area on channel

69-9 and on the PVGP's YouTube channel globally.
