1970 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special

The all-new styling introduced for the 1965 model year was coming to an end, with its final year being 1970. The Sixty Special rested on a stretched GM C-body platform with its 133-inch wheelbase being 3.5 inches longer than its predecessor. The pillared sedan design, last seen on the 1957 B-pillar body style, was re-introduced along with the available 'Brougham' option package.

For 1970 the Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special wore a new grille and taillamps and 'chrome with vinyl insert' bodyside molding. Body styles included a sedan and the Brougham, both having four doors and seating for six. The Sedan had a factory base price of $6950 while the Brougham was $7284. The Brougham found more buyers, netting 16,913 sales while the Sedan accounted for 1,738 units of Cadillac's production in 1970.

The Fleetwood Sixty Special came standard with a Turbo-Hydra-Matic transmission, electric clock, two front cigarette lighters plus dual rear cigarette lighters, twin front and rear ashtrays, two-way horizontal control front seat adjustments, power steering, power windows, front disc brakes, center front armrest, center rear armrest, and Automatic Level Control. The 472 cubic-inch overhead valve V-8 engine had a cast-iron block, hydraulic valve lifters, a Rochester Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor, five main bearings, and delivered 375 horsepower at 4,400 RPM. The Brougham models came standard with adjustable reading lights, dual comfort front seats with two-way power adjustments, plus a vinyl roof.

The 18,651 examples of the 1970 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special represented 7.8 percent of Cadillac's total production.
