1977 Lola T440 Navigation
The Lola T340/2 was an impressive Formula Ford racer that was praised for being easy to handle and very forgiving. Next came the T440 that brought with it several changes including a near 50/50 weight distribution. The designs and theory were solid, but it did not translate as well as hoped on the actual product. The layout was cramped for the driver and there were complaints about the handling. Several owners moved the engine back which helped improve the handling. Since this improvement was done in period, it is generally accepted as a modification allowed in modern vintage racing.
