ENHANCEMENTS MAKE GMC YUKON AND YUKON XL EVEN MORE AGILE, COMFORTABLE

2004 GMC Yukon
Extraordinary roominess, surprising agility and eye-popping levels of comfort - those are the most salient traits of the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL. For 2004, this strong-selling family of full-size sport utilities, whose interiors were completely redesigned just a year ago, feature yet more enhancements aimed at providing even higher levels of vehicle agility and comfort, as well as greater safety and security.2004 GMC Yukon
'Agility and comfort, along with exceptional roominess, have always been the cornerstones of the Yukon family's success,' said Sam Mancuso, Yukon marketing director. 'The key upgrades we've made this year should position the Yukon family for even greater customer appeal in the future.'

2004 GMC Yukon
Enhanced safety, handling
All Yukon and Yukon XL models come equipped with a new driver and right-front passenger safety-belt reminder, which automatically lets both driver and passenger know via a chime and a telltale light if their safety belts haven't been secured. This system complements the passenger-sensing system (first introduced in 2003) that automatically deactivates the passenger's frontal air bag under certain conditions to help protect smaller occupants. The system assesses the size of the occupant in the seat, based on the measured weight in the seat cushion and tension in the belt system, if any. If these measurements are typical for a small occupant or a child in a booster seat, for example, the air bag is disabled. If they are typical for a larger occupant, the air bag is enabled. As no system is perfect, there is a telltale in the rearview mirror that lets the occupant know if the system is ON or OFF.

Yukon and Yukon XL models also have dual-level frontal air bags for both driver and front-seat passenger. The system is designed to detect vehicle deceleration and, based on the data, provide an appropriate amount of air-bag inflation. The dual-level air-bag system senses the severity of a crash and determines whether to deploy the air bag with primary or 'lower' amount of inflation or with primary and secondary 'higher' amount of inflation.

Safety is further enhanced on Yukon 1500 Series models with a new tire-pressure monitoring system that monitors tire inflation pressures in the four wheels/tire assemblies and flashes a graphic on the instrument cluster should air pressure drop below a specified level.

Meanwhile, GM's four-channel StabiliTrak stability enhancement system continues to be available on all Yukon and Yukon XL 1500 models. StabiliTrak helps the driver maintain control of the vehicle in sudden maneuvers, particularly in low traction conditions, in emergency lane changes, and during avoidance maneuvers. If the system determines that the vehicle is not responding appropriately to the driver's steering, StabiliTrak precisely reduces engine torque and applies precise amounts of pressure to the individual brakes to slow the vehicle and help bring it back to its intended path.

And, GM's revolutionary Quadrasteer four-wheel-steering system is available on all 2500 Series Yukon models. Quadrasteer reduces curb-to-curb turning diameter by 20 percent, to 36.5 feet, and increases track width by 5 inches for unparalleled nimbleness, handling and on-highway control.

Hydroboost brakes and 17-inch wheels
All Yukon and 1500 Series Yukon XL models now receive Hydroboost brakes, previously available only on 2500 Series Yukon XL and Denali models. This upgraded brake system provides more stopping power for high-deceleration stops and improves ABS performance. These brakes also require less maximum pedal force during high-deceleration stops and improve pedal effort and 'feel' during normal operation.

New for 2004 are 17-inch, six-spoke premium aluminum wheels, available on Yukon SLT and Yukon XL SLT models. These handsome new wheels can be shod with either all-season blackwalls or whitewalls, or on/off-road blackwalls.

Popular options now combined
For 2004, Yukon and Yukon XL models are available with the power glass sunroof and the DVD rear-passenger entertainment system packaged together. The optional rear-entertainment system includes a 7-inch (178-mm) flip-down screen, which can play studio quality audio/video in both CD-audio and DVD formats and includes two sets of wireless (infrared) headphones with independent volume control, a wireless remote control and three sets of auxiliary video and audio inputs.

2004 GMC YukonYukon infotainment options include an available OnStar safety and security system and XM satellite radio. All that is beamed into the vehicle via a new, low-profile exterior antenna. XM Satellite Radio (continental Ú.S. only) provides 100 coast-to-coast, digital-quality channels of original music, news, sports and talk. Consumers can subscribe to the basic service for $9.99 a month - less than the cost of a single CD. In addition, GM customers with GMAC financing can choose to include the XM subscription in their car payments.

An AM/FM radio with single CD player and cassette is standard in all models, and a six-disc in-dash CD system is available. A high-quality, nine-speaker premium Bose system is included on all models with front bucket seats. It uses a ported bass-reflex subwoofer, located in the center console, and a new dual-voice coil driver to enhance audio performance. A high-powered, linear six-channel amplifier in the center console further enhances sound quality.

A great trailer-hauler
The trailering package, which now includes a new seven-to-four-pin adapter and electric brake wiring harness, maintains the preeminence of the Yukon and Yukon XL family as a trailer-hauler par excellence. The package also includes a hitch, high-capacity air cleaner and external transmission cooler for ultimate capabilities.

Complementing this package is the optional uplevel power-folding, curb-tilting, exterior rearview mirrors with integrated turn signals and power-adjustable camper mirrors, which include heat and in-glass turn signals, and can be power-extended to a very wide 106-inch (2,692 mm) vehicle width for safer trailering.

GMC YUKON DENALI, YUKON XL DENALI TAKE FULL-SIZE SUV SAFETY, COMFORT, CAPABILITY AND REFINEMENT TO HIGHER LEVEL

2004 GMC Yukon
'Premium' is practically a synonym for the Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali full-size SÚVs, a trait that led the series to a new sales record last year. And for 2004, key enhancements take their segment-defining levels of safety, comfort, capability and refinement to yet a higher level.2004 GMC Yukon
New safety items
All Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali models come equipped with a new safety-minded tire-pressure monitoring system. This system enhances safety, security and peace of mind by constantly monitoring tire pressure and alerting the driver via a chime and a telltale light in the instrument panel should air pressure drop below a specified level.

In addition, all models now also feature a new driver and right-front passenger safety-belt reminder, which automatically lets both driver and passenger know via a chime and a telltale light if their safety belts haven't been secured. This system complements the passenger-sensing system (first introduced in 2003) that automatically deactivates the passenger frontal air bag under certain conditions to help protect smaller occupants. For 2004, Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali models are available with the power glass sunroof and the DVD rear passenger entertainment system packaged together - two of just four options (along with middle-row bucket seats and Integrated Navigation Radio) available on the well-appointed Denali models. The rear entertainment system includes a 7-inch (178-mm) flip-down screen, which can play studio quality audio/video in both CD-audio and DVD formats and includes two sets of wireless (infrared) headphones with independent volume control, a wireless remote control and three sets of auxiliary video and audio inputs.

Yukon Denali's infotainment features include the OnStar safety and security system and XM Satellite Radio as standard, and available Integrated Navigation Radio.

Integrated Navigation Radio is a supplement to OnStar that provides drivers with detailed routes from coast-to-coast. The DVD-based system instantly maps routes with 2-D and 3-D full-color map views on a 5.8-inch (147-mm) display screen with the push of a button, making maneuvering on highways and streets effortless. And, the unit's Global Positioning System (GPS) features real-time location tracking, intersection views for detailed guidance, destination selection and voice prompts.

A six-disc in-dash CD changer is standard on Denali models with a high-quality, nine-speaker luxury Bose system with an audio pilot noise-reduction feature. It uses a ported bass-reflex subwoofer, located in the center console, and a new dual-voice coil driver to enhance audio performance. A high-powered, linear six-channel amplifier in the center console further enhances sound quality.

In addition, the eight-button steering-wheel controls provide safer, more convenient (secondary) audio adjustments, access to trip and fuel data, personalization for vehicle functions and a direct link to the OnStar safety and security system.

European-style interior
Inside, the Denali's seats feature a clean European-style appearance, including sculpted contours and thick, comfortable headrests in tone-on-tone leather. The highly refined interior also includes a handsome instrument panel and cluster with LCD displays. The center console is a seamlessly integrated single-piece design and flows up into the IP.

A great trailer-hauler
The trailering package, which now includes a new seven-to-four-pin adapter and electric brake wiring harness, maintains the pre-eminence of the Yukon Denali family as a trailer-hauler par excellence. The package also includes a hitch, high-capacity air cleaner and external transmission cooler - making for a true totally integrated system.

2004 GMC YukonStability and control
GM's four-channel StabiliTrak stability-enhancement system is standard on all Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali models. StabiliTrak helps the driver maintain control of the vehicle in sudden maneuvers, particularly in low traction conditions, in emergency lane changes, and during avoidance maneuvers. If the system determines that the vehicle is not responding appropriately to the driver's steering, StabiliTrak precisely reduces engine torque and applies precise amounts of pressure to the individual front brakes to slow the vehicle and help bring it back to its intended path.

A one-speed full-time, open differential all-wheel-drive transfer case permits flexible torque transfer. Its 40-percent front/60-percent rear bias ratio also provides the necessary amount of front torque for excellent yaw stability.

Denali models also feature the Autoride suspension system. This system adds agility and smooth handling characteristics to Denali by automatically adjusting the shock dampening, and includes a rear, air-assisted load-leveling system, designed to keep the truck level when loaded.

Denali's Hydroboost brake systems provide superb stopping power for high-deceleration stops and optimum ABS performance. They also require less maximum pedal force during high-deceleration stops and improve pedal effort and 'feel' during normal operation.
