2000 Porsche Boxster Navigation
For the 2000 model year, the Porsche Boxster engine received a larger displacement size, growing from 2.5 to 2.7 liters. As a result, horsepower rose from 200 to 214 hp. A new option was added to the lineup, the Boxster 'S', which featured a 3.2-liter engine that offered an impressive 250 horsepower for the small 2-seater cabriolet. Pricing for the base model was $42,100, while the eagerly sought-after 'S' version sold for $50,200. The mid-engine Boxster had a five-speed manual as standard with an optional five-speed automatic. The 'S' came with a six-speed gearbox sourced from the 911. There was very little visual distinction between the base Boxster and its 'S' counterpart, except that the 'S' had a third, central front air intake. There were different windshield trim, titanium color highlight bars in the front air intakes, and the S badging located on the rear trunk lid. If those were not enough clues, there was also a twin-tailpipe on the 'S' model while the base Boxster had a single tailpipe.

The Boxster could race from zero-to-sixty mph in 6.6 seconds while the 'S' did it in just 5.3 seconds. The quarter-mile was done in 14.6 seconds with the 'S' version doing the same distance in 13.9 seconds.
