Fiat produced 14,993 examples of the X1/9 Targa Coupe in 1980. Power was from an overhead-cam four-cylinder engine that displaced 91.4 cubic-inches and offered 65 SAE horsepower. The mid-engine, rear-wheel drive Targa had wedge shaped styling and rode on steel wheels. It featured a restyled interior with a digital clock and a dashboard that held an 80-mph speedometer. Standard equipment included a five-speed manual gearbox, remote-control driver's mirror, tinted glass, electric rear defroster, two-speed wiper/washers, electronic tachometer, padded sports steering wheel, electronic tachometer, and passenger vanity mirror. Buyers had the option of purchasing alloy wheels, power windows, and air conditioning.
