1993 Porsche 911 Navigation
The Turbocharger in the 911 returned in 1991 and when installed, the 911 could race from zero-to-sixty mph in 4.8 seconds and had a top speed of 168 mph. The following year, the limited-production model American Roadster was introduced. It was built, in part, to commemorate the 1952 American Roadsters that raced at the inaugural race at Thompson Raceway in the fall of 1952. These modern American Roadsters were fully loaded with luxury items that included air conditioning, a six-speaker stereo, and power steering. In 1993, Porsche offered the wide-body Carrera 4. Another new addition to the lineup was the optional Torsen limited-slip differential.Pricing for the 1993 Carrera 2 began at $64,990 and rose to $78,450 for the Carrera 4. The American Roadster pricing began at $89,350 for the cabriolet and $99,000 for the Turbocharged Coupe. The 911 came equipped with a four-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic. The base engine was a horizontally opposed, overhead-cam six-cylinder engine that had an aluminum alloy block and head. The 219.7 cubic-inch engine offered 250 horsepower. With the help of the turbocharger, power rose to 320 BHP.
