The 55th anniversary of the 250 GTO
The rally marking the 55th anniversary of the Ferrari 250 GTO, one of the most iconic cars ever built both in terms of its design and for the wins it collected at some of the world's most important tracks and races, concluded at the factory in Maranello on Friday.
Returning to Florence on Thursday, the crews headed to Maranello on Friday, retracing the route of the Mille Miglia and ending the rally at the factory where they lined up in the square in front of the presidential building. It was an extraordinary sight with so many original and certified cars in the different colours of the various national sports federations: the red of Italy to the yellow of Belgium, the blue of France and the green of Great Britain. In the evening, customers were guests at the Classiche department workshop for a very special gala dinner at which Ferrari announced the 2022 rally, which will celebrate the 60th anniversary of one of the greatest cars ever to leave the gates of Maranello.

Twenty of the 36 specimens ever produced were involved in the event that ended on the afternoon of 29 September, when the cars arrived at the company passing under the historic arch on Via Abetone Inferiore. The event set off from Florence, where on Monday the 250 GTO had driven through some of the most beautiful parts of the city such as the Boboli Gardens. During the rally customers enjoyed Italian gastronomic delights and, above all, competed on one of the most illustrious tracks in automotive history, the legendary Mugello street circuit, a route measuring more than 60 km and until the mid-1960s the scene of battles between champions of the calibre of Mario Casoni, Renzo Sinibaldi and Carlo Facetti.
