1990 Alfa Romeo Spider Navigation
The Alfa Romeo Spider has a pedigree deeply rooted in history, with some of the design features of the body style sourced from the Superflow 1 and 2 show cars introduced in the mid-1950s. The final shape of the Spider was heavily based on 'aerodynamica' show cars that were introduced in the early 1960s. The Spider was produced from 1966 through 1993. The Series 4 version was introduced in 1990 and had the same basic body style, mechanicals, and chassis as the original 1960s version, but improved styling over the 1980s models. They had color-coded bumpers and a more luxurious interior. Pininfarina was tasked with the redesign and manufacture, and all examples left the factory in Left Hand Drive configuration. The 1990 Alfa Romeo Spider was available as the Veloce, Graduate or Quadrifoglio. The Veloce had a base price of nearly $21,000 while the Graduate sold for $17,000. The highest-priced example was the Quadrifoglio which had a base price of nearly $24,000. The Quadrifoglio added air conditioning, AM/FM stereo with cassette player, and larger wheels and tires. The dual-overhead-cam four-cylinder engine received a slight boost in power, now rated at 120 horsepower. They had a five-speed manual transmission and disc brakes at all four corners.
