1981 Mazda RX-7 Navigation
The big news for the 1981 Mazda RX-7 was the addition of a GSL version to the lineup, joining the S and GS trim levels. The GSL was a luxury option that added leather seats, power windows, disc brakes, alloy wheels, a limited-slip differential, and cruise control. Selecting this option added $2,000 to the base price of $9,400. The other trim levels received a larger fuel tank, a revised dashboard, and minor modifications to the front and rear. Power was from the Wankel engine, which featured two coaxial three-lobe rotors, light-alloy trochoid housings, and cast-iron rotors. The engine displaced 70 CID and offered 100 horsepower. A five-speed manual transmission was standard.
