Whitley, UK Friday 11 May 2018: Alejandro Agag, founder and CEO of Formula E, will drive the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY racecar as it makes its global debut in Berlin ahead of the E-Prix.
The Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY will debut on Saturday May 19 on the Berlin Tempelhof Circuit and marks the next chapter of the 2018/19 season of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. The eTROPHY racecar will be joined on the Berlin track by the next generation Formula E car to showcase the future of the championship.
Jaguar has created the first all-electric production-based support series after becoming the first premium manufacturer to join Formula E back in 2016. Since the announcement, the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY has attracted global attention as momentum builds ahead of season five.
Alejandro Agag, Founder and CEO of Formula E: 'I'm honoured to drive the Jaguar
James Barclay, Team Director Jaguar Racing: 'We are delighted that Alejandro will be the first person to drive the eTROPHY racecar. He has been such a strong supporter of Jaguar following our entry into Formula E.
'Jaguar returned to racing with the mission to 'Race to Innovate'. For Jaguar Racing this is another step on our commitment to electrification. We launched the Jaguar I-PACE earlier this year, which applies learnings from our time in Formula E and transfers them to the development of our electric road cars. Now, we will see the next step in our electrification journey as our Special Vehicle Operations team adapt the Jaguar I-PACE for the world's first production battery electric vehicle championship.'
The Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY offers a complete 'Arrive and Drive' package for 20 drivers. MS-RT were recently enlisted as Jaguar Racing's technical operations partner for eTROPHY and will provide on-track engineering and technical resource to deliver the championship.
