1954 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight

The Oldsmobile's were completely restyled for 1954. The wheelbase grew by two inches on the 88, the company's entry-level model, and the name 'Deluxe' was dropped. The V8 engine grew in displacement to 324 CID and horsepower rose from 150 BHP to 170 BHP. Body styles on the Eighty-Eight series included a 2- and 4-door sedan, and a Holiday Hardtop. The 4-door sedan proved to be the most popular, with 29,028 sales and was closely followed by the Holiday Hardtop which had 25,820 sales.

The Olds 88 came standard with a lined trunk, dual horns, cigarette lighter, aluminum door sill plates, bumper guards, and an electric clock. Oldsmobile offered eighteen standard exterior paint colors along with 18 factory two-tone combinations. Inside, the upholstery was either gray, green, or blue pattern cloth.

The Oldsmobile 881 (known from 1989 onwards as the Eighty Eight) is a full-size automobile that was sold and produced by Oldsmobile from 1949 to 1999. The 88 series was also the image leader for Oldsmobile, particularly in the early years (1949 to 1951).

The high performance of the car allowed the 88 to participate in the NASCAR racing series. The model won 6 of the 9 races in 1949, 10 of the 19 races in 1950 and 20 of the 41 races in 1952.

Doug Mockett, the owner of this Oldsmobile, is an icon of La Carrera Panamericana. he is the competitor who has participated the most since 1992 without any interruption.
