1977 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

The 1977 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, available as an 'S' Coupe and a Landau Coupe, had a base price of nearly $5,000 and accounted for 411,038 vehicle sales. They received a restyled grille with three separate rows with eight holes across each one. Flanked on either side were stacked rectangular headlamps with horizontal rectangular parking lamps located below the headlamps. The bodies rested on a 116-inch wheelbase and had a length of 212.7 inches. Power was from a 5-liter V8 engine with an optional 5.7-liter four-barrel V8 available. Standard equipment included a Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission, power steering and brakes, electric clock, hide-away wipers, carpeting, lighter, inside hood release, wheel opening moldings, deluxe wheel covers, and steel-belted radial tires.

New features included front springs which provided a softer ride and improved corrosion protection.

The Landau Coupe, which was an additional $300, had a vinyl roof, dual body-color sport mirrors, Turbine II wheels, and pinstriping.
