2017 Lincoln Navigator Navigation
The 2017 Lincoln Navigator offers a best-in-class towing capacity of 9,000 lbs.* And the 6-speed automatic transmission with tow/haul mode helps keep you from gaining too much speed when towing downhill. And going up? It helps the engine stay in its power band so that you can keep your momentum. Standard trailer sway control works with traction control to monitor vehicle motion, and to help give you peace of mind.
The standard 3.5L twin-turbocharged Navigator engine delivers 380 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. But it's far more than raw power. Direct fuel injection delivers smooth and sophisticated power on demand and an EPA-estimated rating of 16 city/22 hwy/18 combined mpg. The combination of power and performance help to deliver best-in-class towing capability: a max of 9,000 pounds when properly equipped.
The Lincoln Navigator is one of the very few full-size SÚVs engineered with an independent multilink rear suspension (IRS) system that enables each wheel to negotiate bumps and jolts on its own terms, providing ride quality and control.
Superior ride and handling aren't the only benefits. The Navigator IRS features our patented 'porthole-in-frame' design, in which steel halfshafts pass through elliptical portholes in the frame. This design allows for a lower and fully flat load floor, increased passenger and cargo volume, a lower rear ride height for enhanced aerodynamics, plus a lower step-in height to help make getting in and out easy.
The available Control Trac Four-Wheel-Drive (4WD) System enhances traction on slippery surfaces and helps to enhance handling on dry roads.
Available continuously controlled damping takes Lincoln luxury driving to another level. An advanced suite of sensors continuously monitors the suspension. The sensors also detect body motion and steering and braking dynamics in milliseconds, faster than you can blink. Select the operating mode — Comfort, Normal or Sport — that suits the driving experience you prefer, from exceptional ride quality to a spirited, sporty feel.
Electric power-assisted steering is an important component in Lincoln Drive Control. EPAS provides an easy, fluid steering feel at low speeds and a firmer, more controlled feel at higher speeds. And that's not all. It also constantly adapts to changing road conditions and compensates for irregularities caused by factors such as a crowned road surface and crosswinds. You won't feel the system working, but you'll experience a pleasant sense of assurance.
The 4.10 rear axle is optional on Navigator, standard on Navigator L. This axle optimizes torque for quick off-the-line acceleration and enhanced towing performance compared with a 3.73 axle.
The standard SelectShift automatic has two modes of operation — Progressive Range Select or Full Manual. In Progressive Range Select, you can limit the range of gears, while you're in Drive, to lock out overdrive for consistent speed over hilly terrain. Tap down into Range Select mode, and the display shows the available gears and highlights the one that's in use. This feature lets you limit the use of upper gears when the vehicle is heavily loaded or towing on grades. In Full Manual mode, you can go all the way up and down the gearbox so you're fully in control. The display will show the selected gear, and the control system will lock the torque converter and hold that gear for a full manual transmission feel.
AdvanceTrac with RSC uses gyroscopic sensors to measure vehicle roll and turning rates. Corner too quickly or swerve to avoid an object and RSC applies brake pressure and reduces engine power to help keep you in control. And it all happens in the time it takes to blink an eye. AdvanceTrac with RSC minimizes skidding and fishtailing, and provides enhanced control on adverse road conditions such as ice, gravel and rain.Source - Lincoln
