1951 Dodge Coronet

The 1951 Coronet remained as the top-level trim for Dodge and would hold that distinction until 1955 when it would become the lowest trim-level. Power was supplied from an L-head flathead six-cylinder engine displacing 230 cubic-inches and offering just over 100 horsepower. The transmission was a Fluid-Drive semi-automatic unit. Body styles included a sedan, convertible, club coupe, station wagon, and a Diplomat Hardtop. Prices ranged from $2,100 to $2,850.

The Coronet came with all the options and amenities found on the Meadowbrook plus chrome trim rings on the wheels. The Coronet name could be found on the front fenders.

The Coronet nameplate had been introduced to the Dodge line in 1949 wearing the division's first postwar body styles. The first generation styling would continue through 1952 when a totally new design was introduced for 1953. with the help of the new optional 241 cubic-inch 'Red Ram' Hemi engine, it would establish over 100 land speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats. In 1955, it became the entry-level Dodge vehicle when the Wayfarer and Meadowbrook names were retired. Between 1965 and 1976 it was the company's intermediate-sized vehicle. For 1977, the Dodge Cornet was renamed Monaco bringing an end to the Coronet.
