Chevrolet unveiled the all-new Caprice and Caprice Classics in early 1990. Body styles included a sedan and station wagon on the base trim levels and a Caprice Classic Sedan. The base engine was a 5.0-liter V8 engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The Caprice Classic LTZ came with a 5.7-liter V8 engine. Standard equipment included air condoning, driver's side airbag, and simulated wood interior trim accents. New features included rear door child security locks, anti-lock braking system, two-way tailgate with wiper (on the station wagons), and luggage area cargo net. Options included a ride and handling package, keyless remote door lock and trunk opener, tilt steering wheel, and twilight sentinel headlamps.
