2019 Nissan Rogue

2019 Nissan Rogue adds expanded ProPILOT Assist availability, two new option packages, standard Rear Door Alert and more

2019 Nissan Rogue
The success of the Nissan Rogue has been nothing short of phenominal. As the company's top-selling nameplate in both calendar year 2017 and model year 2018, the combinaton of Rogue and Rogue Sport continues to set all-time monthly sales records heading into the 2019 model year.

The 2019 Rogue is offered in three well-equipped grade levels, S, SV and SL – each offering a highly desirable combination of compact overall size and ample interior roominess. Details such as wide opening (77 degrees) rear doors for easier entry and exit to the rear passenger space add to its utility – along with available Motion-Activated Liftgate (standard on Rogue SV and SL grades) – making Rogue the perfect vehicle for everyday use and family adventure getaways.

Following extensive enhancements for 2018, the 2019 Rogue again offers a range of significant updates, including:
•New Special Edition Package (S grade) featuring 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, heated exterior mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, heated driver's and front passenger seat, chrome exterior and interior door handles and roof rails
•New Premium Package (SV grade) with 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, ProPILOT Assist1 and electronic parking brake
•Expanded technology availability, including standard Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Intelligent Lane Intervention (I-LI), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection and High Beam Assist (HBA) across all grade levels
•Rear Automatic Braking (RAB) and Rear Sonar System added as standard on SV and SL grades
•Innovative Rear Door Alert added to all grade levels
•ProPILOT Assist1 and 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels now standard on SL grade (previously available as part of the SL Premium Package)
•ProPILOT Assist1 now available on SV grade as part of both the Premium and Sun and Sound Touring Packages

Refined exterior design

The 2019 Rogue again offers progressive, emotive styling. The Nissan signature 'V-Motion' grille and headlights with LED signature Daytime Running Lights help enhance Rogue's robust, dynamic presence. Halogen headlights with auto off function are standard, along with Intelligent Auto Headlights (I-AH). Also available are LED headlights with auto on/off function, High Beam Assist (HBA) and fog lights. In the rear are combination lamps with LED boomerang signature taillights.

Other Rogue exterior highlights include body-color heated outside mirrors with available integrated turn signals, a rear spoiler, privacy glass and roof rails. Rogue's available power panoramic moonroof offers a wide view of the outside world through its extended length. The front glass panel slides and tilts, while the rear glass panel is fixed. When in the open position, the front panel slides under the fixed second panel. Rogue has a coefficient of drag of 0.33.

Rogue SL includes standard aggressive 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels, with 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels available on SV models, rounding out the upscale look.

The 2019 Rogue is offered in nine exterior colors: Brilliant Silver Metallic, Gun Metallic, Magnetic Black Pearl, Pearl White Tricoat (premium color), Glacier White, Monarch Orange Metallic (premium color), Caspian Blue Metallic, Midnight Pine Metallic and Scarlet Ember Tintcoat (premium color).

Premium-look interior

Inside, Rogue offers a premium look and feel throughout. Among the interior features found in the 2019 Rogue are a D-shaped steering wheel and leather-booted sport-mode shifter, and available heated steering wheel, memory for driver's seats and mirror, and remote engine start2. The Platinum Reserve Interior Package is highlighted by premium tan leather-appointed seats with special quilted leather inserts, adding an enhanced sense of luxury style. It is available on Rogue SL models only.

Every seat except the driver's easily folds down. The front passenger seat folds rearwards, allowing transport of long items such as an 8-foot ladder when combined with the flat folding 40/20/40-split 2nd row seat. Rogue also offers an innovative Divide-N-Hide® Cargo System that provides 18 adjustable variations between the cargo and occupant areas.

The front bucket seats are a special Zero Gravity design. The driver's seat is 6-way adjustable, with available power adjustment including lumbar support, while the front passenger seat is 4-way adjustable. The available Quick Comfort™ heated front seats are designed to immediately begin warming the body parts most sensitive to heat, such as the thighs and hips. Leather-appointed seats are standard on SL models.

Standard interior features include SiriusXM® Satellite Radio (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately), 5.0-inch center meter color display (Advanced Driver Assist™ Display), 4-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system with auxiliary audio input jack, ÚSB connection port for iPod® interface and other compatible devices, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, RearView Monitor, Streaming Audio via Bluetooth® and Hands-free Text Messaging Assistant (compatible smartphone required). Also available are dual-zone automatic air conditioning and Bose® audio system with nine speakers. The Remote Engine Start (RES) system2 provides flexibility to start the Rogue remotely using the keyless entry fob.

Three interior colors are offered: Charcoal and Almond, along with the special Premium Tan with the Platinum Reserve Interior Package.

Advanced safety and security, connectivity and driving aid features
The 2019 Rogue has a number of available connected technology and smartphone integration features. New for 2019 is the innovative Rear Door Alert3 (RDA) system, which can help remind customers of items that may be forgotten in the rear seat – valuables, dry cleaning, groceries and more.

The RDA system was developed by a pair of Nissan engineers and mothers. It can help remind Nissan owners to check the rear seat by using a series of distinctive honks as the driver is walking away from the vehicle. The audio alerts distinguish the Nissan RDA from other systems in the marketplace. If the system detects that a rear door was opened/closed prior to a trip, but then was not re-opened again after the trip was completed, given the vehicle was put in park and the ignition cycled off, the system responds with a series of notifications, starting with a display in the instrument panel and progressing to subtle but distinctive chirps of the horn.

All 2019 Rogue models also include Every NissanConnectSM featuring Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, with a 7.0-inch color touch-screen display. Available as part of the Premium Package and Sun and Sound Touring Package for Rogue SV models is the NissanConnect with Navigand ation system, featuring Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, Nissan Voice Recognition for navigation and audio, SiriusXM® Travel Link® and Traffic (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately).

Rogue SL models offer standard NissanConnect with Navigation and Services powered by SiriusXM® (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately) featuring Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™.

Standard Rogue Safety Shield technologies include Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Intelligent Lane Intervention (I-LI), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection and radar-based Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). Rear Automatic Braking (RAB) is added for 2019 to SV and SL grades.

Advanced ProPILOT Assist

In 2018, Rogue became the first of two Nissan vehicles (along with Nissan LEAF) to offer the new ProPILOT Assist1 system, which can ease driver workload by reducing the amount of driver acceleration, steering and braking input under certain driving conditions. To activate the system, the driver simply pushes the blue ProPILOT Assist1 ON button, which is integrated into the right-side steering wheel spoke. Step two is to set the Intelligent Cruise Control when the desired speed is reached, as with a normal advanced cruise control system.
When lane markers are consistently detected, steering assist engages and the steering wheel/lane marker icons on the instrument panel turn green. Both right and left hand markers need to be detected by the front camera. Steering assist will engage or disengage depending on the visibility or presence of lane markers, though the Intelligent Cruise Control will remain active. If the vehicle comes to a complete stop in a traffic jam situation for more than three seconds, the driver just presses the resume button or taps the accelerator pedal to begin moving again.

Tuned specifically for Ú.S. roads, ProPILOT Assist1 is designed to be more intuitive and user-friendly compared to other driver-assist technologies. It can potentially help lessen driver fatigue and create a more confident driving experience – especially for drivers who experience heavy highway traffic on a daily basis. It utilizes a forward-facing camera, forward-facing radar, sensors and electronic control module to help the driver stay in the center of the driving lane and to maintain vehicle speed (set by the driver) or help maintain a gap to the preceding vehicle if the vehicle speed drops below the driver-set speed. It also can slow the vehicle to a complete stop and holds the vehicle during traffic jam conditions.

Steering assist is cancelled in inclement weather if the windshield wipers are in the low or high position (if lane lines can be detected, the system can remain active when the wipers are in the intermittent mode or if the mist function is activated).

The driver's input always takes priority, overriding the system when the steering wheel is turned or the turn signal is operated (steering assistance goes into a temporary standby mode). The system also goes into temporary standby mode when the accelerator pedal is pressed. The system's Intelligent Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assistance are both cancelled when the brakes are applied.

For 2019, ProPILOT Assist1 is now standard on the SL grade and optionally available on Rogue SV.

Standard 170-horsepower 2.5-liter engine

2019 Nissan Rogue
All 2019 Rogue models are equipped with a responsive 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The engine is matched with an advanced Xtronic transmission with standard Sport Mode and Eco switches. Fuel economy4 is rated 26 mpg city, 33 mpg highway and 29 mpg combined for front-wheel drive models. Rogue AWD models are rated at 25 mpg city, 32 mpg highway and 27 mpg combined4.

The 2019 Rogue features Nissan's suite of confidence-inspiring dynamic technologies with Intelligent Trace Control (I-TC), Intelligent Engine Braking (I-EB) and Intelligent Ride Control (I-RC).

Rogue also offers standard 4-wheel independent suspension, Electric Power-assisted Steering, 4-wheel disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Traction Control System (TCS) and Hill Start Assist.

Four wheel and tire combinations are offered, depending on grade. For 2019, SL grade comes with standard 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 225/55R19 all-season tires. Rogue S comes with 17-inch steel or optional 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 225/65R17 all-season tires. Every Rogue also offers a standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with position monitoring and Nissan's innovative Easy Fill Tire Alert.

Rogue is available with a choice of front-wheel drive or an Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, which can respond and adapt to changing conditions 30 times faster than the blink of an eye. Intelligent AWD initially delivers power to both front and rear wheels for improved grip. Once the vehicle is up to speed, the system sends all of the power up front (100:0 ratio), resulting in higher efficiency. In slick conditions and tight corners, Intelligent AWD automatically transfers the optimal amount of power from front to rear, up to a mix of 50:50 distribution ratio.

A range of well-equipped Rogue models

The 2019 Nissan Rogue comes in three well-equipped models – S, SV and SL, each in a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive. Rogue is also offered in select markets in a hybrid version (see www.nissannews.com for details).
