Volvo Cars Begins S60 Exports To Europe
RIDGEVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA -- For the first time, Volvo Car US Operations is exporting the all new S60 sedans to Europe from its plant in Ridgeville, SC.
S60 models will be delivered, via the South Carolina Ports Authority, to the Belgium port of Zeebrugge to connect with distribution centers in Ghent that feed the European retailer network in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, UK, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czech, Slovenia and Poland.
Throughout the year, S60 models will also be exported to Turkey, Australia and New Zealand, plus 93 countries, including in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific (excluding China).
In 2019, Volvo Cars is expected to produce nearly 50,000 vehicles at its Ridgeville plant. Over 50 per cent of the cars produced will be exported.

'We began commercial production of the S60s just six short months ago here in South Carolina, and we're excited to be building cars for customers around the world,' said Jeff Moore, vice president, Manufacturing, Americas. 'Export markets are critical to the long-term success of our plant and we're on track to deliver vehicles to our customers worldwide,' he added.
Volvo Cars opened its first manufacturing plant in Ridgeville, SC, in late 2018. There are approximately 1,500 team members building the all new S60 mid-size sedan for global distribution. The 2.3 million sq. ft. plant includes a body shop, paint shop, final assembly and a vehicle processing center. In 2022, the plant will begin producing the next generation XC90 sport utility vehicle. The plant will have the capacity to build 150,000 cars annually.
