The first year for the Buick Park Avenue as a stand-alone model was 1991, but the name had been in use for many years prior, first in 1975 as an appearance option on the Electra 225 Limited. Three years later, it became an Electra trim level and after the Electra was discontinued, became its own model starting in 1991. The first generation of styling would continue through 1996, with the second generation following a year later and surviving through 2005. The third and final generation of updates were introduced in 2007 for the Chinese market and continued through 2007 when the 'Park Avenue' name was retired.
Ultra Sedan
View info and historyThe 1991 Buick Park Avenue was a stately and luxurious four-door sedan with front-wheel drive and powered by a naturally-aspirated V6 engine with a 3.8-liter displacement. It was large, but not the largest in Buick's fleet, that honor falling to the newly introduced rear-wheel drive Roadmaster. The Park Avenue, however, was the most luxurious and served as the company's flagship model. The Buick Park Avenue rested on a generous wheelbase size of 110.8-inches and had an overall length of 205.2 inches and a width of 74.9 inches. It used GM's C-body platform and several family styling cues including the rounded lines, full-width tail lamps, and wraparound front bumper. Its styling had been inspired by Buick's Essence concept car and contemporary Jaguar styling. The 3.8-liter engine was paired with a 4-speed 4T60-E electronically controlled automatic transmission and disc brakes at all four corners provided the stopping power. The interior was luxurious and accommodating, with the plush velour upgradeable to leather. The trunk volume measured 3.9 cubic feet. Among the new features and standard amenities included an engine oil-life monitor, an oil-level warning light, flush-mounted solar control glass, a 'ComforTemp' dual automatic climate control system, (standard in the Park Avenue Ultra sedan), a brake and transmission interlock, and a driver's side airbag.

Later Ultras came with a supercharged 3800.In 1991, the standard Park Avenue sedan was priced at $24,385 and the Park Avenue Ultra at $27,420.
