SAIC-GM-Wuling Completes Second Phase of Baojun Plant, New Energy Vehicle Base Starts ConstructionLIUZHOU – On August 21, SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) celebrated the start of production at the second phase of its Baojun plant in Liuzhou, Guangxi, as the first Baojun 560 SUV rolled off the line. SGMW also started construction of its new energy vehicle (NEV) base.

Representing investment of RMB 8 billion, the second phase of the Baojun plant has an annual capacity of 400,000 vehicles, 400,000 engines and 200,000 new energy vehicles.

Built to GM's global manufacturing standards, the facility has adopted world-class processes and equipment. It includes areas for manufacturing, R&D and testing. It will enable SGMW to stay ahead of rising demand for its growing Baojun passenger car family.

The Baojun brand's momentum has been driven by strong demand for the Baojun 730 and Baojun 560. Orders for the Baojun 560, SGMW's initial SUV, exceeded 30,000 units within 20 days of its launch.

SGMW's NEV base represents investment of about RMB 3 billion. The R&D and manufacturing facility is expected to have an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles.

These facilities will significantly enhance SGMW's overall capacity and market competitiveness, while facilitating the company's continued growth and strategic transformation to support economic development in southwestern China.
