2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Named Insurance Institute For Highway Safety Award Winner7-passenger Mitsubishi Outlander CUV earns an IIHS 'TOP SAFETY PICK' rating

CYPRESS, Calif. – Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) announced today that its seven-passenger crossover, the 2018 Outlander, has been named an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK winner when equipped with optional front crash prevention and specific headlights*. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is an independent non-profit scientific and educational organization that researches, performs evaluations and assesses safety ratings in crash testing of production vehicles.

'Thanks to our advanced safety features and technology, the Mitsubishi Outlander continues to acheive IIHS safety ratings for the fifth consecutive year,' said Don Swearingen, executive vice president and chief operating officer, MMNA. 'The Outlander remains a leader in reliability and dependability, and we are proud to receive this recognition by one of the most reputable organizations in the industry.'

To qualify for 2018 TOP SAFETY PICK status, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests. It also must earn an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention and an acceptable or good headlight rating.

The Touring Package found in the 2018 Outlander includes Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Adaptive Cruise Control and automatic high beams. Additionally, Blind Spot Warning (BSW) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Lane Change Assist (LCA), and power remote liftgate are now standard on SEL trim. Standard safety features also include seven air bags, Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control Logic (TCL), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution.

The 2018 Outlander is available in dealerships for a starting MSRP of $23,795.
