Petersen Automotive Museum To Display New Mid-Engine Corvette During Zora Duntov Tribute Weekend

The celebration for 'The Father of the Corvette' will include a display of the new mid-engine 2020 Corvette Stingray, an exclusive VIP reception, Corvette rally, Corvette car show and a panel discussion from July 27 - 28, 2019

LOS ANGELES (July 23, 2019) – The Petersen Automotive Museum will host two days of special events celebrating the life and accomplishments of former Chevrolet chief engineer, race car driver and 'Father of the Corvette' Zora Arkus-Duntov. The two-day celebration will feature several high-profile events including a display of the all-new 2020 Corvette Stingray, a VIP reception, exclusive Corvette rally event, Corvette car show and a special panel discussion on the history and future of the Chevrolet Corvette.

The 2020 Corvette Stingray is the first-ever production mid-engine Corvette and the most powerful entry Corvette ever produced, with a next-generation 6.2L Small Block V-8 LT2 engine producing 495 horsepower (369 kW) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque allowing the car to achieve 0-60 miles per hour in under three seconds. The new mid-engine platform allows for greater handling performance than any previous Corvette, allowing for over 1G of lateral grip. The new mid-engine design has a bold, futuristic expression with mid-engine exotic proportions, but it is still unmistakably Corvette. The entry 2020 Stingray continues that tradition as a no-compromise value proposition, as it will start under $60,000.

On Saturday, July 27 at 6:30 p.m., the Sportsman VIP Night will feature an exclusive and unique Corvette display featuring several historic Corvette models alongside the 2020 Corvette Stingray, as well as gourmet food provided by Drago Ristorante and one-of-a-kind opportunities to network with Corvette experts and Corvette community VIPs. Attendees will also receive an exclusive Chevrolet Corvette book.

On Sunday, July 28 at 7:30 a.m., the Constellation Rally will take participants on a scenic route from Pasadena to the Petersen through the heart of Los Angeles. A silver 1961 Corvette from the Petersen collection will take part in the rally, leading participants on the course. Also, on Sunday, July 28 at 9:00 a.m., the Corvette car show at the Petersen will feature a panel discussion about Zora Arkus-Duntov featuring Harley Earl II, Corvette Racing Program Manager Doug Fehan, Lead Exterior Designer Kirk Bennion and Corvette Program Engineer Josh Holder.

'The Chevrolet Corvette has earned its title as 'America's Sports Car' thanks in large part to the work of Zora Arkus-Duntov,' said Petersen Automotive Museum Executive Director Terry L. Karges. 'The Petersen is proud to honor Duntov's incredible legacy, and we're confident that this weekend will be like nothing else for any Corvette fan.'

Ticket prices for the Zora Duntov Tribute Weekend start at $16. To purchase tickets, please visit http://www.petersen.org/events. For more information about the Petersen Automotive Museum, please visit www.Petersen.org.
