evo, one of the world's leading publications for car enthusiasts, has awarded the Maserati MC20 its prestigious Car of The Year 2022 honour.
Stuart Gallagher, editor of evo, commented, 'In a year that delivered so many tantalising new performance cars from many established marques the Maserati MC20 was the cream that rose to the top of evo's 2022 Car of the Year test.
'It's a remarkable car that ignites a passion in the driver that Maserati is famed for. It oozes character, rewards the driver in everything it does and leaves you aching for another drive every time you step out of it. Throw in an exotic piece of Italian automotive design and you have the perfect recipe for both a brilliant driver's car and eCoty champion.'
Fellow judge Steve Sutcliffe said, 'It's the car I'd most like to own of all the cars I've driven in the last 30 years.'
The Maserati MC20 was also praised for being a 'car person's car' – delivering excitement and emotion in spades, handling at all speeds, and how it so clearly differentiates itself from other supercars.
'The MC20 is race-inspired and every detail heightens the connection between driver and car, in the driver's seat nothing distracts from the sporty experience and it's great that the evo judges felt this special connection'.
At the heart of the MC20, both Coupé and Cielo, is the revolutionary new Nettuno engine, a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 that delivers 630 horsepower. Maserati's latest powertrain creation is the first engine intended for a road car to use an innovative pre-chamber combustion system with twin spark plugs, a technology derived from Formula 1 competitions.
As with all Maserati models, customers can select from a wide range of options, as well as creating a truly bespoke and unique car using the Fuoriserie personalisation options.
