RM Sotheby's returned to Paris for its 11th sale at the French capital and kicked off its European auction calendar in great style, grossing €35,143,900 in total sales with 84% of all lots sold. The auction followed on from last year's remarkable results, becoming RM Sotheby's second-best Paris auction, significantly leading the Rétromobile auction week.

The 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione by Scaglietti, which boasts an outstanding period racing history, proved to be the unquestionable star of the show. Chassis number 1773 GT is a very rare and highly desirable alloy-bodied Competizione version built in 1960, with period wins which include 7th overall and 5th in class at the 1960 12 Hours of Sebring as a NART entry. Finely restored and boasting Ferrari Classiche certification, the car righty deserved its sale price of €10,158,125.

The second highest seller of the night was the 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/6C Alloy by Scaglietti, A rare alloy-bodied, long-nose example, this special 275 GTB was offered from 18 years of same-family ownership, and achieved a deserved €3,211,250. Rounding off the top three sellers in Paris was the dramatic 2007 Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa, the most powerful Maserati ever produced, equipped with a 745-hp 6-litre V-12. Only 12 of these remarkable cars were made, derived from the marque's all-conquering GT1 racer, and sold very strongly at €3,042,500.

The Timeless Collection achieved a fine €3,311,125, with the incredible 17-car offering including the beautiful Ex-King Alfonso XIII, 1919 Hispano-Suiza H6 Torpédo by Duvivier, which sold for €522,500, in addition to the 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta by Scaglietti, which achieved a worthy €533,750.

Also worthy of note is the 1993 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6, a highly sought-after model which is among the rarest air-cooled 911 Turbos, with fewer than 1,500 built. The example sold was rarer still, finished in the highly unusual colour of Oak Green Metallic over Sherwood Green leather interior, thought to be one of three built to this specification. Retained by the consigning owner for more than 20 years, it achieved an outstanding €511,250, bringing nearly three times over its low estimate.
