2009 Volvo XC 90 Navigation
The lineup of Volvo's award-winning XC90 expands for 2009 with the addition of distinctive R-Design models. Offered with a choice of 3.2-liter six-cylinder and 4.4-liter V8, the R-Design benefits from an array of exterior and interior styling upgrades exclusive to these models. Larger wheels and tires plus R-Design tuned suspension and steering contribute to a more sporting look and athletic driving character.
Compared to the standard XC90 3.2, the R-Design model adds 19-inch 'Vulcanis' diamond-cut alloy wheels, R-Design grille, leather seating surfaces with embossed R-Design logo on the front seats, R-Design steering wheel, watch dial instruments and floor mats. The XC90 V8 shares these enhancements while receiving standard 20-inch 'Cratus' alloy wheels and R-Design split dual exhaust pipes.
Other changes for the 2009 model year include a new Convenience Package available on all models. This features Volvo's Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), power retractable rearview mirrors, rear park assist, Interior Air Quality System (IAQS) and the enhanced Volvo Navigation System II with remote control and Real Time Traffic.
The Technology Package, also offered on all models, comprises dual Xenon active bending headlights with automatic level control, Sirius satellite radio and Dynaudio premium sound system with rear seat headphone jacks and audio controls. This system includes a 6-CD changer, auxiliary input, MP3 capability, Dolby Pro-Logic II® Surround Sound, 650-watt amplifier and 12 Dynaudio speakers.
Offered exclusively on the XC90 V8 the Executive Package brings an even higher level of luxury and exclusivity to the fold. Among the generous list of amenities is Executive soft leather seating surfaces, door panels and center console cover, Executive Classic wood inlays and steering wheel, Executive floor and cargo mats, heated front and rear seats plus ventilated/massage functions for the front seats.
The advanced 3.2-liter in-line six-cylinder engine for the XC90 3.2 and R-Design is a naturally aspirated powerplant that utilizes the latest technology to maintain the same exterior dimension and fuel consumption as a five-cylinder engine. This engine delivers 235 horsepower and 236 lb.-ft. of torque. It achieves performance and economy thanks to Variable Cam Timing (VCT) and Cam Profile Switching (CPS). With CPS, the intake valves can be lifted to different heights depending on engine revs and load - a lower lift for economical driving and a higher one for more power.
The XC90 V8 R-Design shares its high-tech 4.4-liter 32-valve engine with the XC90 V8. Fitted with continuously variable intake and exhaust valve timing (CVVT), this naturally aspirated V8 develops 311 horsepower and 325 lb.-ft. of torque. Both V8 models feature standard all-wheel drive with Instant TractionTM. This traction enhancing system employs computer-controlled Haldex AWD that instantaneously delivers up to 50 percent more torque to the rear axle only when needed, such as during takeoff. A six-speed 'Geartronic' automatic transmission is standard on all XC90s.
Adhering to Volvo's core value of safety, all XC90 models are equipped with Roll Stability Control (RSC), Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC), Side impact Protection System (SIPS) with side airbags and Inflatable Curtains for all three rows.Source - Volvo
