1993 Toyota Supra

The 4th generation Toyota Supra was introduced in 1993 and it was a stark departure from the car that preceded it, especially in Twin Turbo guise. With the two sequential turbochargers added to the base specification 220 horsepower inline-6, power rose 100 horsepower - an increase of 45%. Zero-to-sixty mph was accomplished in the 5 seconds range, which was bested only by the Dodge Viper, Ferrari 512TR, and F40, the Lamborghini Diablo, Shelby 427 Cobra, and the Vector W8 Twin Turbo. Along with well-received styling, it's braking and handling were benchmarks in its segment.

The turbo models were fitted with a new six-speed Getrag/Toyota V160 gearbox. The naturally aspirated versions were fitted with a five-speed manual W58 transmission, revised from the previous model. Each of these two versions could be equipped with a four-speed automatic with manual shifting model. They all rested on five-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels, with the naturally aspirated versions receiving 16-inch wheels and the turbo models had 17-inch wheels. Along with larger wheels, the turbocharged versions had larger brakes.

The fourth-generation Supra was in production from April of 1993 through August of 2002.
