For 1972, Lotus produced both the Series 2 (with its 1565cc four-cylinder engine) and the Series 3 (also known as the Europea Twin-cam) which had made its debut in 1971. Powering the Series 3 was the same 105 horsepower engine found in the Elan. Top speed was in the neighborhood of 120 mph. New cast alloy wheels were added and the sail panels were slightly lowered, altering the cars appearance.
