The Ford 300 was built for a single year and was the base model for 1963. It was below the Galaxie, Galaxie 500 & Galaxie 500XL and had almost no chrome trim or luxury equipment when compared to the entry-level Chevrolet Biscayne. Body styles included a 2- or 4-door sedan with base prices of just over $2,300. The overhead-valve six-cylinder engine displaced 200 cubic inches and delivered 116 horsepower. A selection of V8s was optional, including the big-block FE-series 427 cubic-inch V8 delivering 425 horsepower.
Located on both front fender, just behind the wheel wells, was 'Ford 300' badging. 'F-O-R-D' in small block letters was located on the trunk lid. There was chrome molding around the rear window and windshield, a chrome horn ring, and no chrome side trim. Inside, there were armrests on all the doors and two sun visors. Total production reached 70.152 units
After the 1963 model year, the Ford 300 was replaced by the Custom series.
