1978 Buick Skylark

For 1978, Buick produced 114,220 examples of the Skylark, most were fitted with the V-6 engine. Just 17,116 were equipped with a V-8. The Skylark was available as a coupe, sedan, or as a hatchback. The entry-level model was the 'S' version, and it was available only as a coupe. The S/R version of the prior years was replaced with the Custom Skylark as the luxury edition model.

Powerplant options included the standard 231 cu. in V-6 with two optional V-8s. The standard gearbox was a three-speed manual unit.

Styling remained mostly unchanged. Upfront, the grille was restyled very slightly with a pair of horizontal dividers bands to the vertical-bar pattern. In the back, the wraparound signal/parking lights were divided into three sections rather than two.
