1964 Chevrolet Chevy II Series

For 1964, the Chevy II received a redesigned grille with nine vertical bars that were spaced along with the five full-width horizontal blades. The Chevy II consisted of the Series 100 available with either a four- or six-cylinder engine. Bodystyles for the Series 100 included a 2- and 4-door sedan, or a station wagon. The Nova 400 came with a six-cylinder engine and was available as a 2- or 4-door sedan, sport coupe, or station wagon. The top series consisted of the Nova Super Sport Coupe that featured 'SS' trim and equipment.

New mechanical features for 1964 included an optional 283 cubic-inch V8 and self-adjusting 9.6-inch drum brakes.

The Nova series of cars were distinguished from the Series 100 cars by a belt molding and Nova signature script located near the top edge of the front fenders. The base level 100 series had no belt moldings. The 300 Series line of vehicles was discontinued.

The four-cylinder engine was an overhead valve unit that displaced 153 cubic-inches and produced 90 horsepower. It had five main bearings, a cast-iron block, and hydraulic valve lifters. The six-cylinder unit was a 194.4 CID that was fitted with a Rochester one-barrel carburetor and developed 120 horsepower. A 230 cubic-inch engine raised power to 155 horsepower.
