1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Series Navigation
The Cutlass was new for 1997 and was available in base and GLS trim. Power was from a Series 3100 60-degree V-6 engine which developed 155 horsepower. Standard equipment included air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power door locks, anti-lock brakes, split-folding rear seat, PASSlock II security system, daytime running lamps, and dual-zone rear window defogger. The 3.1-liter engine was mated to an electronically-controlled Hydra-Matic 4T40E four-speed automatic. Also available was a Cutlass Supreme model in both Coupe and Sedan body styles. This was the Cutlass Supreme's 30th year with nearly eight million examples sold. The 1997 Cutlass Supreme was available with three levels of equipment including the Series I, Series II, and Series III. The Series IV of the prior year was no longer available. The optional 3.4-liter V-6 was no longer available.
There were 18,040 examples of the 4-door sedan produced. An additional 9,943 Supreme Coupes and 43,020 of the Cutlass Supreme sedan were built.

The Cutlass Supreme added structural side impact upgrades to help comply with federal requirements. Other standard equipment included 16-inch aluminum wheels and power trunk release. The coupe versions received a rear aero wing.
