1985 Buick Electra Navigation
In the Spring of 1984, Buick introduced an entirely new Electra. The front-wheel drive Electra and the new C body was downsized compared to the prior generation. The interior dimensions remained largely the same as the previous generation. Buick discarded all V8 engines and installed transverse-mounted V6 units. Power was initially provided by a carbureted 3.0-liter Buick V6 unit, a fuel injected 3.8 liter Buick V6, or a 4.3 liter Oldsmobile diesel V6 engines. Each engine was mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission with a 0.70:1 overdrive gear. After 1985, the 3.0-liter V6 and 4.3-liter diesel V6 were no longer offered. The 1985 Electra rested on a 110.8-inch wheelbase platform which was 2 feet shorter and 4 inches narrower than its predecessor. It also weighed over 600 pounds less. The hood now opened from the rear. Body style options included a Coupe and Sedan. A T Type and Park Avenue trim levels were offered. The T Type was a sportier version while the Park Avenue added more luxurious amenities. Standard equipment on the base model included four-speed overdrive automatic transmission, AM/FM stereo radio with seek/scan electronic tuning, power windows, six-way power driver's seat, electronic climate and level controls, side window defoggers, remote fuel filler door release, courtesy lights, trip odometer, velour upholstery, and headlamps-on reminder.

The Park Avenue trim level added a larger V6 engine, power door locks, tilt steering, power decklid release, rear reading lamps, wide bodyside moldings, accent paint striping, cruise control, and upholstery in cloth or leather.
